Contract: Permanent, full-time Location: London (hybrid-working) Closing Date: 7 September 2026

About the role

Trinity College London is seeking a Digital Workplace & AI Lead to establish and lead our AI and digital workplace capability.

This newly created role will shape how Trinity identifies, prioritises and delivers opportunities across AI, automation and digital workplace, helping colleagues work more effectively while ensuring investment is focused on areas that deliver measurable business value.

Working across Technology, Transformation, Product, Data & Insights and business teams, you will build and manage a pipeline of opportunities, taking initiatives from discovery and experimentation through to implementation, adoption and benefits realisation. You will help determine which ideas should progress, which should be scaled and where investment should stop.

You will also lead key capability-building programmes, including the AI Apprenticeship Programme, Digital Champions Network, and AI Academy, helping colleagues develop the skills and confidence to use AI and digital tools effectively. A core part of the role will be ensuring innovation happens responsibly, working with relevant teams to embed appropriate governance, security, data and responsible AI controls without creating unnecessary barriers to experimentation.

This is an opportunity to build a new capability from the ground up, combining strategy, delivery, stakeholder engagement and organisational adoption to create lasting impact across Trinity.

About you

You will have experience leading AI, automation, digital workplace or technology-enabled business improvement initiatives, with a track record of turning emerging technology into practical, measurable outcomes.

You will be confident operating across both business and technology teams, working with senior stakeholders to identify opportunities, challenge assumptions and prioritise competing demands.

You will bring experience developing roadmaps, delivery pipelines or capability plans, alongside a strong understanding of organisational change, adoption and the practical considerations involved in moving AI or automation from experimentation into sustainable use.

You do not need to be an AI engineer, but you will need sufficient technical understanding to work credibly with engineering, architecture, data, and security teams and make informed decisions about feasibility, risk, and value. Experience with generative AI, workflow automation and technologies such as Microsoft Copilot, Power Platform, Azure AI or similar platforms would be an advantage.

We are looking for someone analytical, pragmatic, and highly collaborative, with the ability to translate complex or emerging technology into clear business opportunities and practical delivery plans.
