Job description

The Digital Learning Design and Delivery Officer will play a key role in designing and delivering digital skills training and developing digital learning resources for Judicial Office Holders. A primary focus of this role will be to design and deliver training solutions that support judicial office holders to adapt to changes introduced as a result of the Independent Review of the Criminal Courts (IRCC), over a two-year period commencing from October 2026.

The postholder will also help build digital confidence in relation to judicial day‑to‑day digital working and new and emerging technologies, including (for example) new AI‑enabled tools introduced into court systems and processes. The role will also provide flexible support to wider digital learning activities undertaken by the College’s Digital Learning Service, including filming, editing and the development and maintenance of various digital training resources.

Responsibilities, Activities & Duties:

• Design, develop, deliver and maintain digital learning resources and activities for Judicial Office Holders (to in particular encompass training needs arising out of and connected to the IRCC), using a blend of online, face‑to‑face and self‑directed learning approaches.
• Facilitate engaging digital skills sessions, webinars, demonstrations and workshops for a range of judicial audiences, adapting delivery style to different levels of confidence and experience.
• Develop digital learning resources to support training delivery, including presentations, guidance materials, e‑learning content and other digital assets.
• Work with Judicial Course Directors, Training Leads, IT Liaison Judges, senior judiciary, HMCTS and Judicial Office colleagues to identify learning needs, agree priorities and ensure training products meet user needs.
• Support Judicial Office Holders to build confidence in new and emerging technologies, including AI‑enabled tools, by translating complex digital concepts into clear, practical learning.
• Ensure all learning products and delivery methods meet accessibility requirements and reflect good practice in inclusive digital learning design.
