Overview

In this role, you will serve as a trusted legal advisor to product, engineering, security, and commercial teams, guiding privacy, data protection, and AI governance to enable responsible innovation at scale. You’ll act as Deputy Privacy Officer, leading OpenTable’s global privacy program and coordinating with Booking Holdings on privacy matters. You will shape product development and regulatory strategy, balancing risk with business growth. This position combines legal counsel with hands-on collaboration across cross-functional teams to protect users and partners. A core hook is driving privacy-by-design in a global, high-growth product ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • Counsel Product, Engineering, Security, Commercial, Partnerships, and Marketing on new products, data uses, and customer experiences from ideation to launch
  • Act as Deputy Privacy Officer, leading global privacy program and coordinating with Booking Holdings on governance and regulatory developments
  • Embed privacy-by-design into products and operations, advising on data collection, use, consent, personalization, and consumer rights
  • Provide strategic guidance on AI and emerging technologies, developing scalable AI governance frameworks
  • Advise on product development, launches, and sunsetting with emphasis on privacy, cybersecurity, and consumer protection
  • Collaborate with Information Security on security requirements, incident response, and regulatory obligations
  • Identify and mitigate privacy, AI, security, and consumer protection risks; draft agreements and build scalable policies and disclosures

Key requirements

  • 8+ years of relevant legal experience with privacy, data protection, technology, and product matters
  • J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school and active bar membership in at least one U.S. state, or equivalent UK qualification
  • Deep knowledge of GDPR, U.S. state privacy laws, and global consumer protection laws
  • Experience advising on product counseling and partnering with Product and Engineering from development to launch
  • Experience leading or supporting a global privacy program with governance and cross-functional implementation
  • Experience advising on information security, cybersecurity, and incident response
