The Opportunity
We are partnering with a well‑established global engineering and automation business to recruit a Technical Sales Support Engineer with a strong mechanical bias. This is a fully onsite role based in Milton Keynes, supporting both customers and the internal sales team with technical expertise across a broad product portfolio.
The role is ideal for someone with a background in mechanical engineering or automation, who enjoys problem‑solving, customer interaction, and supporting sales growth through technical knowledge.
The Role
As Technical Sales Support Engineer, you will provide front‑line technical support via phone and email, assist with product selection and variations, and contribute to product development and market analysis. You will work closely with sales, engineering and customers, specialising in pneumatic automation and temperature control solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support to customers and internal sales teams via phone and email
- Process requests for special products and product variations
- Analyse, investigate, and produce reports on returned products
- Support new product development and proposal activities
- Conduct market and competitor product analysis
- Support the sales team with customer visits and application development
- Assist with product management activities, including training, new product introductions, and product lifecycle changes
- Proactively promote existing and new products to support sales growth
Essential Skills & Experience
- Degree, HNC, or HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Experience working within an engineering environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Methodical problem‑solver with a logical and organised approach
- Ability to clearly present technical information, both face‑to‑face and via webinars
- Hands‑on testing and diagnostic experience
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise workload, and meet deadlines
Desirable Experience
- Automation systems or system design experience
- Previous experience in a Technical Sales Support, Applications, or similar role
- Broader exposure to industrial automation products
