The Opportunity
We're recruiting on behalf of a rapidly growing robotics and AI company seeking a Senior Robot Learning Engineer to develop and deploy advanced Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models and large behaviour models onto real-world robotic platforms. This is a rare opportunity to work on advanced robot intelligence systems with access to production hardware, large-scale datasets and significant cloud compute resources. Rather than spending years building infrastructure from scratch, you'll focus on improving robot intelligence and deploying those improvements into real-world environments.
The Role
You'll be responsible for developing, training and deploying advanced robot learning systems that enable increasingly capable manipulation and autonomous behaviours. Working alongside robotics, perception and infrastructure teams, you'll help shape the future of intelligent robotic systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, train and deploy large behaviour models
- Develop and improve Vision-Language-Action systems
- Scale multi-task manipulation policies
- Improve model robustness and generalisation
- Extend imitation learning and reinforcement learning pipelines
- Deploy learned policies onto physical robotic platforms
- Develop sim-to-real training and evaluation workflows
- Conduct experiments to improve robot performance in real-world environments
Requirements
- MSc, PhD or equivalent industry experience in Robotics, AI, Machine Learning or related field
- Demonstrated experience deploying learned policies on physical robotic systems
- Strong expertise in at least two of:
- Behaviour Cloning
- Diffusion Policies
- Vision-Language-Action Models
- Reinforcement Learning for Manipulation
- Strong PyTorch experience
- Excellent Python software engineering skills
- Strong experimental design and evaluation capabilities
Desirable Experience
- Humanoid or bi-manual manipulation systems
- Diffusion Transformer architectures
- ACT and VLA architectures
- Foundation models such as CLIP or DINOv2
- MuJoCo, Isaac Sim or ManiSkill
- RL fine-tuning techniques
- 3D perception and policy conditioning
What's on Offer
- Salary dependent on experience
- Equity opportunities
- Private healthcare
- Significant cloud compute resources
- Conference and professional development budget
- Access to real-world robotic platforms
- Opportunity to deploy advanced AI into production robotics environments
