About the Company

OpenSource is partnered with a specialist technology business in London that builds and operates complex trading, modelling and internal engineering systems. Technology is central to how the company performs. The teams rely on reliable workstations, secure infrastructure, development environments, internal tools and office technology to do their work effectively. This means IT support is not treated as a basic back office function. It plays a direct role in keeping a highly technical business running smoothly.

About the Role

We are looking for an IT Support Engineer to join their team in Hammersmith. This is a hands-on role covering user support, Linux and Windows workstations, office infrastructure, device provisioning, access management, networking support and internal IT operations. The role would suit someone who wants to build a deeper technical career beyond traditional desktop support. You will be supporting developers, technical users and business teams in an environment where people value good systems, clear thinking, automation and practical problem solving. This is a strong opportunity for someone who enjoys fixing problems properly, improving how things work and developing towards systems administration, infrastructure or platform engineering over time.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first and second line support across the business, resolving hardware, software, operating system, connectivity and infrastructure issues.
  • Manage Linux and Windows workstations, ensuring machines are secure, reliable, well maintained and ready for people who depend on them every day.
  • Support the physical office technology in Hammersmith, including networking, meeting room equipment, printers, workstations and other business critical hardware.
  • Help with onboarding and offboarding, including account setup, device provisioning, access control and asset management.
  • Contribute to internal projects that improve reliability, security, automation, documentation and the overall user experience.
  • Work closely with engineering and wider business teams to make sure IT supports the pace and technical standards of the organisation.

Qualifications

Strong troubleshooting skills across desktop hardware, operating systems and common business applications.

Required Skills

  • Experience supporting both Linux and Windows environments.
  • Comfortable with hardware maintenance and upgrades, including replacing storage devices, memory, power supplies, CPUs and other workstation components.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical users.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • Comfortable working in a technical, fast moving environment where reliability matters.
  • Able to work from the Hammersmith office 5 days per week. This is essential due to the hands-on nature of the role and the need to support physical infrastructure and hardware.
  • Willing to participate in an out of hours support or on-call rota if required.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience administering FreeIPA.
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals, including switches, wireless networking and VPN technologies.
  • Experience with endpoint management and device provisioning tools.
  • Exposure to infrastructure, cloud platforms, automation or systems engineering.
  • Scripting experience with PowerShell, Bash or Python.

Pay range and compensation package

  • Competitive salary and significant bonus potential.
  • Enhanced pension match with salary sacrifice option.
  • Health insurance and life assurance.
  • Sabbatical leave after five years.
  • 33 days of annual leave, including bank holidays.
