With a strong grasp of business performance drivers, risks, opportunities and assumptions, you will deliver clear, insightful analysis to senior Openreach and BT Group stakeholders, supporting decision-making against prior performance and Medium Term Plan commitments. The role also offers broad exposure across Openreach, with the opportunity to support the wider controller community in delivering high-quality results and driving a best-in-class finance function.

What you'll be doing:

  • Provide coaching and leadership to one direct report and two indirect reports.
  • Coordinate and own Openreach month-end across Capex, Cash and Balance Sheet, including reporting and analysis.
  • Generate, understand and clearly articulate end-to-end Openreach performance stories, including presentations to the CFO, Finance Directors and senior stakeholders.
  • Represent Openreach in BT Group reviews, including month-end Cash, Balance Sheet and Holistic Filing reviews.
  • Develop deep understanding of the Balance Sheet, including risks, opportunities and insightful KPIs to strengthen performance.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to unit finance teams on Balance Sheet and working capital to improve understanding and quality.
  • Sponsor improvements to the Fixed Asset Register, promoting strong BAU processes and leading project activity on complex areas.
  • Work closely with Internal and External Auditors and Group Finance to ensure a smooth audit process and follow-up actions.
  • Operate and evidence key financial reporting controls, and support accounting policy areas such as Bad Debt Provision, IFRS16 and VAT.
  • Lead project work as required.

Required Skills / Experience:

  • Qualified accountant with strong experience across Balance Sheet and Cash, and credibility engaging across complex, group-structured organisations.
  • Proven ability to lead and deliver through both line and matrix management across multi-phase initiatives, effectively managing competing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Effective leader and coach, driving high performance and embedding desired behaviours while supporting teams to deliver quality outcomes.

Desirable Skills / Experience:
