As a Sales Engineer, you will be working with area sales reps with various aspects of the sales process. You will be providing technical assistance and expertise to the software companies looking to embed our clients' products into their existing application as well as developers within our OEM customer base.

For the successful candidate, responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing technical support and sales expertise to pre-sales and post-sales situations within a designated sales region
  • Formulating technical strategies and tactics for sales in support of Actuate products and services and functioning as an integral part of the sales team
  • Providing demonstrations of product set
  • Providing ad hoc and custom demonstrations of the Actuate product set
  • Presenting technical features and business benefits of the Actuate product set
  • Working cooperatively with other members of the OEM team to resolve technically oriented problems and issues
  • The ability to understand customer issues and map high level business issues to the technical solution and to provide a roadmap for the customer’s success
  • Responding to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs
  • Conveying customer requirements to Product Management and Professional Services teams

Required Skills Qualifications/Requirements:

  • BS in Computer Science or other related field or equivalent experience.

Additional Skills:

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Able to work well in a team environment.
  • Able to respond appropriately in a dynamic, client-oriented organization.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Able to work on a wide range of problems with diverse scope & complexity.
  • Travel to customer, partner and our clients' sites are necessary.
  • Excels at working independently.

Required Experience:

  • 3-5 years experience in a customer-facing technical role.
  • Experience with UNIX and Windows platforms.
  • Strong database (Oracle and SQL/Server) background with SQL experience.
  • Experience with web development tools & object oriented technology (J2EE, Java, Javascript, JDBC and DHTML).
