The predicted salary is between 41000 - 59000 £ per year.

The role involves weekly on-site working and requires travel among client sites in Newcastle, Leeds or Manchester. The candidate must be a UK citizen or eligible for security clearance and be able to hold or obtain a Security Check (SC) clearance.

Essential Experience

  • Recent government (public sector) experience and/or delivery of complex digital services that meet Government Digital Service (GDS) standards.
  • Application of business analysis techniques (e.g., SWOT, 5 Whys) to understand business context, processes and systems; analyse root causes, define problems, evaluate options and make recommendations aligned with strategic goals.
  • Elicitation, analysis, validation and prioritisation of business and user requirements, using techniques such as BPMN process flows, wireframing and data analysis.
  • Definition of epics, features, user stories, acceptance criteria and non-functional requirements; maintenance of traceability and facilitation of prioritisation.
  • Business modelling, process improvement and digital/data systems analysis to represent organisations, processes, relationships and systems; identification of gaps, recommendation of improvements and support of implementation and validation.
  • Building and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships and cross-functional teams, communicating clearly, reaching consensus and adapting messages to different audiences.
  • Analysis and prioritisation of user experience needs, presenting insights in an accessible, data-informed way.
  • Support testing by defining business scenarios and acceptance criteria, reviewing prototypes, test plans and outcomes to ensure solutions meet requirements.
  • Delivery to the highest quality, adhering to recognised industry standards and frameworks (e.g., GOV.UK Service Standards), in large and complex organisations.
  • Collaboration in multidisciplinary Agile teams, validating process and system improvements and delivering project objectives effectively.
  • Presentation of complex information in a way that is easy to understand, engaging both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Contribution to improving ways of working and driving continuous improvements within teams.
  • Sharing of knowledge and best practice with fellow business analysts and other disciplines, including proactive engagement in client and Opencast communities of practice.
  • Positive challenge of decisions or solutions that are not aligned with the best client outcomes.
  • Creation of lasting value in projects, ensuring a user-centric, sustainable approach.
  • Meaningful engagement with Opencast, supporting the growth of practice and wider capability.
  • Support of Opencast's growth plans by providing case studies and updates on relevant forums of project work.

Salary and Benefits

  • Consultant salary range: £41,000-£59,000

Location & Travel
