The role involves identifying and solving complex service problems faced by clients. You will investigate, define, and design the end-to-end service journey, balancing user needs, business goals, and technical considerations. Leadership in projects and guidance on work direction are key responsibilities. Building relationships with senior stakeholders and supporting less experienced colleagues while sharing knowledge is essential. Work must comply with Opencast's quality, environmental, and information security policies, as well as applicable customer standards.

Requirements include weekly on-site work and regular travel to client locations across the UK. Candidates should value in-person collaboration, enjoy building strong relationships, and be passionate about delivering impactful solutions. Active Security Check (SC) clearance or eligibility for the clearance process is required, along with UK citizenship and residency criteria.

We are recruiting for multiple positions, with opportunities available immediately and in the coming months. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply. In your CV and interview, you’ll need to demonstrate:

  • Experience with GDS / Gov Design Systems
  • Ability to analyse and synthesise complex information into actionable insights
  • Skill in conveying complex information to various audiences using creative techniques
  • Experience in designing artefacts that evidence existing systems and experiences
  • Capability in designing and facilitating user research, workshops, and co-design sessions
  • Experience in designing accessible and inclusive end-to-end services
  • Ability to analyse the impact of all aspects of a service within a larger ecosystem
  • Experience working across multiple work streams
  • Leadership in discussions with product owners to plan and produce roadmaps
  • Experience in planning and executing service design practices
  • Consideration of future business needs and wider client strategies

In addition to service design skills, you should have:

  • Experience in building trust and strong relationships with senior stakeholders
  • Ability to respectfully challenge proposed decisions or solutions
  • Skill in creating common ground between people
  • Experience in assigning tasks and setting project milestones
  • Capability in coaching less experienced practitioners

At the interview, you will be asked to present a piece of work that demonstrates your experience.

What we offer includes a competitive package with a 7% employer pension contribution, share options, and a discretionary bonus. Benefits also include 25 days’ holiday, 3 annual “life happens” days, wellbeing support, ongoing professional development, volunteering opportunities, and a supportive team environment.

This role requires regular on-site attendance at HQ, hub offices, and client sites, along with the ability to work from home. Travel to offices and client sites across the UK is essential for fulfilling the role's responsibilities.

We welcome candidates from all identities, attributes, ways of thinking, and backgrounds to thrive in a career at Opencast. Our aim is for the diversity of our people to be reflected in the solutions we deliver, contributing to a fairer society for all.

Interviews will be conducted via Microsoft Teams, and adjustments can be made to support your needs.
