We are a leading independent communications supplier specializing in the design, supply, installation, commissioning and maintenance of wireless voice and data networks. Our client has the largest dedicated radio engineering team in the UK. Each staff member is trained by leading manufacturers to the highest standard and provided with the latest DMR and Tetra test sets to ensure equipment can be repaired to component level. With continued expansion they are now seeking a Field Radio Engineer to join this thriving business.

Role

You will be working within the dedicated engineering team and be personally responsible for providing bespoke technical solutions for customers and SMEs on all Radio Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build bespoke technical solutions in line with customer requirements.
  • Provide technical assurance to customers.
  • Prepare CODEPLUGS/FLEET plans for customer requirements (Motorola & Hytera).
  • Install, troubleshoot and maintain telecommunication equipment from different vendors: Hytera, Motorola, Tait, Simoco, Kenwood and Icom.
  • Site maintenance and servicing.
  • Faults management with log analysis, defect debugging and work‑around responsibilities.
  • Business support: customer needs analysis and presentation of new products.
  • Provide technical support to communication systems in major contracts.

Skills and Experience

  • 2+ years experience in military or commercial radio communication.
  • RF propagation experience.
  • Strong IT experience specifically with database management, networking topologies, TCP/IP and DMR/PMR software applications.
  • Must currently be SC (security cleared) or have held a clearance previously and be able to refresh without issues.
  • Experience fault‑finding across a multitude of telecommunication platforms.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • RF fault diagnostics.
  • Broader technical skills, specifically in the design of bespoke solutions.

Desired

  • Knowledge of PMR programming software for Tait, Simoco, Motorola, Kenwood, ICOM and Hytera.
  • Trunk radio (MPT1327) database management.
  • COTS radio repair down to component level, notably for Tait, Simoco, Motorola, Kenwood, ICOM and Hytera.
