The team designs and delivers compensation programs that are competitive, equitable, and scalable, while balancing market dynamics, internal consistency, and long‑term sustainability.

About the Role

We are expanding our Compensation team and are seeking a Lead Compensation Partner for EMEA, with additional responsibility for supporting compensation needs across other international markets in alignment with our global expansion strategy. This is a senior, highly visible role that will help shape and execute OpenAI’s global compensation strategy as we continue to scale internationally. In this role, you will partner closely with regional leadership, HR Business Partners, Finance, Recruiting, and Legal to design and manage compensation programs that align with our business objectives, reflect local market realities, and support long‑term growth. You will operate as a strategic advisor, balancing global consistency with regional flexibility, and providing hands‑on leadership across core compensation disciplines. This role reports to our Head of Compensation.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Regional Compensation Leadership: Serve as the lead compensation partner for EMEA, providing strategic guidance on compensation design, market positioning, and pay decisions, with expanded international coverage as the team scales.
  • Compensation Strategy & Design: Support the development and evolution of base pay structures, incentive programs, and equity frameworks to ensure competitiveness, equity, and alignment with company goals.
  • Global Market Benchmarking: Lead compensation benchmarking and market analysis across EMEA and other international regions to inform pay decisions and maintain strong external competitiveness.
  • Offer Strategy & Governance: Partner with Recruiting and HRBPs on offer design and approvals, ensuring alignment with compensation philosophy, internal equity, and regional market practices.
  • Job Architecture & Leveling: Contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of job architecture, leveling, and career frameworks to support clarity and consistency across regions.
  • Cross‑Functional Partnership: Collaborate closely with HR, Finance, Legal, and business leaders to address complex compensation topics and deliver thoughtful, scalable solutions.
  • Program Optimization: Identify opportunities to improve compensation processes, tools, and governance as OpenAI grows its global footprint.

We’re Seeking:

  • 5+ years of experience in compensation or a related total rewards role, with meaningful exposure to international or regional compensation programs.
  • Demonstrated experience leading compensation work across multiple countries or regions, ideally including EMEA.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate data into clear, strategic recommendations.
  • Proven ability to partner with senior leaders and influence decisions in complex, fast‑moving environments.
  • Excellent communication skills, with comfort navigating nuanced compensation discussions across cultures and regions.
  • Experience with job architecture, leveling frameworks, and global benchmarking strongly preferred.

Workplace & Location
