Open is looking for a Country Head, UK to lead our evolution from a successful market entry to the UK’s leading embedded insurance platform. We have moved past the initial acquisition phase and are now delivering and operating regulated insurance programs for tier-one brands such as Avios, with additional flagship partners launching soon. Your mission is to take full ownership of the UK P&L and regulated operating business, while scaling the local technical and operational squads required to support our next phase of growth. You will report directly to Open’s Group Co-CEOs and act as the principal leader for our UK-regulated business.
The Role: A "Builder" in a Regulated World
This role sits at the intersection of regulation, insurer partnerships, product delivery and commercial growth. You aren’t here to manage a legacy portfolio. You’ll be:
- Localise the growth engine: Over the next 12–18 months, you will help scale our UK operations across growth, tech and product capabilities that can work seamlessly with our core product team based in Australia to ship growth driving features for UK partners.
- Drive Tier-1 Partnerships: Be the strategic partner to the UK’s biggest brands, helping them understand how Open’s digital-first experiences deliver better customer outcomes than legacy incumbents.
- Regulatory & Governance Leadership: Ensure Open propositions are deployed responsibly within regulatory boundaries, supporting strong customer and partner outcomes.
Key Outcomes (First 12–18 Months)
- Partner Expansion: Deepen and scale existing Tier-1 partnerships, expanding product scope, volume and commercial performance over time.
- GTM Execution: Deliver on UK growth targets by securing and launching new partnerships.
- Team & Capability Growth: Continue building a high-performing, cross-functional UK team spanning growth, product, engineering and operations.
- Regulatory Stewardship: Successfully hold and manage SMF responsibilities maintaining a high-trust, proactive relationship with the FCA and key stakeholders.
Who You Are
- Growth Mindset, No Ego: You’ve likely led a business unit or a fintech startup. You prefer small, agile teams that "ship daily" over large, unfocused departments.
- The "Translator": You can move seamlessly between a high-level strategic discussion with a Brand CEO, a technical roadmap session with an Engineer, and a regulatory review with the FCA.
- Customer-Obsessed (The B-Corp Way): You care about value. You understand why Open focuses on high-utility products (Car/Home/Travel) and you believe insurance should be simple and fair.
- Operational Grit: You are ready to turn your hand to solving complex problems personally. At Open, our leaders don’t just delegate; we build.
This role will be hybrid, with 3+ days a week in London at our Marylebone office.
Why Open?
Open is on a mission to make it easy for everyone to get the most from their insurance. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape Open’s next stage of UK growth, backed by the momentum of our established Australian business and proven platform.
What makes this opportunity unique
- Direct Access: High-touch engagement and support from the Group Co-Founders.
- A Proven Platform: You aren’t starting from zero. You have the backing of a global platform with £35m+ in revenue and a clear path to £150m+.
- True Embedded Tech: You’ll be leading the delivery of digital-first insurance products - not simply digitising legacy processes.

- Significant growth runway as Open scales in the UK and globally.
- Flexible working, focused on impact.
