Responsibilities
- The Vaping and Resilience Lead Worker will lead Thurrock’s strategic and operational response to the increasing prevalence of vaping among young people.
- The role focuses on prevention, early intervention, and targeted support for young people who vape or are at risk of nicotine dependency.
- The postholder will design and deliver resilience‑building programmes, educational workshops, and one‑to‑one interventions that empower young people to make healthy choices, develop coping strategies, and improve wellbeing.
- They will work collaboratively with schools, health services, community partners, and families to reduce harm and promote positive outcomes.
Qualifications
- Relevant professional qualification, e.g. Youth and Community, Counselling, Social Work or NVQ3 Health and Social Care or equivalent.
- Experience in delivering assessments and developing and implementing care plans with young people.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to accurately record statistical data.
- Ability to drive and access to your own car.
Training & Development
- Full job‑specific training including drug & alcohol, case and risk management, Trauma Informed Practice and Motivational Interviewing.
- Access to funding for further development training in many areas, including a pathway into management.
