We are seeking an inspiring Academic Staff Member – Early Childhood Education to teach across ECE diploma and degree programmes. This role involves online teaching and supporting learners during practicum placements across the Canterbury region. You will be part of a collaborative and experienced team of educators and practitioners, all committed to high‑quality learning experiences.

Location

Working from home for online teaching, with travel to ECE centres for practicum visits.

  • Teach and inspire by delivering engaging online learning using Open Distance Flexible Learning (ODFL) approaches, interactive technology, and best practice in online teaching.
  • Support learners by providing academic guidance and visiting ākonga during practicum placements in your region.
  • Contribute to quality through feedback on course content and assessments to ensure relevance and high standards.
  • Collaborate and connect with other academic staff, mentors and markers in a supportive team environment.
  • Drive continuous improvement by sharing insights with Programme Delivery Managers to enhance programme delivery.
  • Research and reflect by contributing to research that informs your teaching practice, either through study or independent research.

Requirements

  • A background in Early Childhood Education, preferably with leadership experience in an early childhood centre.
  • A relevant qualification at master's level or above.
  • Strong digital capability and confidence using online technologies.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Sound judgement, flexibility, self‑motivation, and responsiveness.
  • Cultural capability and a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi in the education sector.
  • A genuine passion for teaching and learning.
