The Senior Editor provides high-quality editing, including proofreading, styling and formatting, and editorial support, across a range of client deliverables and accounts to ensure required standards are met.
Ensuring that quality control is paramount within all materials produced across OPEN Health.
Providing editorial support including, but not limited to:
- Proofreading
- Copyediting
- Document formatting
- Ensuring style guides (internal and external) are maintained or adhered to
- Templating
- EndNote library maintenance and application of output styles
Coordinating effectively and efficiently with appropriate members of the wider team (medical & scientific, client and creative services) on a range of projects.
Working with the Editorial Manager/Principal Editor and Editorial Services team to manage workflow, resource management, project allocation and assist with the development of internal processes.
Flagging budget and deadline issues/out of scope work to Client Services teams.
Creating and maintaining comprehensive style guides for all assigned accounts and keeping them up to date.
Developing and maintaining an understanding of the various client brands and disease areas.
Keeping abreast of all relevant industry guidelines including publication industry guidelines (Good Publication Practice).
Submitting accurate and timely timesheet and expense records.
Experience, Skills, and Qualifications:
- Educated to degree level or equivalent.
- Editorial experience within a medical communications company or related field, with a working knowledge of editorial processes.
- Demonstrated ability in editing/styling scientific content.
- Excellent knowledge of general grammar and punctuation rules.
- Proficiency in MS365, including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to follow Editorial Services Team processes and procedures.
- Experienced in supporting/training/(line managing) junior team members.
- Ability to review own work for accuracy and consistency.
- Ability to multitask in order to meet multiple deadlines while maintaining quality.
- Demonstrated ability in using/maintaining reference management database.
