Open Door Project CIC is seeking a Community English (ESOL) Tutor to support women from migrant and refugee backgrounds to develop confidence, communication skills, and independence through English learning.

About Open Door Project CIC

We provide a safe, welcoming, women-only space where women can learn, connect, and grow. Our approach is trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and rooted in kindness, dignity, and empowerment.

About the role

You will plan and deliver informal, learner-centred English sessions focused on practical, everyday language. Learners may have varied levels of English, educational backgrounds, and confidence, so flexibility and empathy are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging ESOL sessions focused on speaking, listening, reading, and writing
  • Adapt activities to suit different learning levels and needs
  • Create a supportive, non-judgemental learning environment
  • Encourage confidence, participation, and peer support
  • Work alongside bilingual and learning support staff where needed

About you

  • Kind, patient, and reliable
  • Confident working with adult learners
  • Passionate about community learning and inclusion

Experience & qualifications

  • ESOL teaching or tutoring experience is helpful but not essential
  • Community work, volunteering, or lived experience welcomed
