About the role
The Diabetes Research Centre is seeking a talented, motivated Research Dietitian to join the Leicester Lifestyle Health and Research Group (LLHRG) at the Leicester Diabetes Centre (LDC) and NIHR Leicester Biomedical Research Centre. The role involves contributing to a diverse research portfolio investigating how 24-hour lifestyle behaviours, including diet, nutrition, physical activity, sedentary behaviour, and sleep, can be optimized to prevent and manage obesity and long-term conditions such as type 2 diabetes in multi-ethnic populations.
You will provide dietetic expertise to support the delivery of clinical research trials in populations with long-term conditions such as obesity and type 2 diabetes, both directly and through supervision of others. Responsibilities include leading dietetic consultations, supporting dietary or nutritional interventions, and analyzing dietary habits and responses to laboratory-based meals. You will also support the general operations of the research portfolio, contribute to funding applications, coordinate participant visits, and oversee measurements of cardiometabolic health. Additionally, you will contribute to the safe and effective operation of research spaces, including a state-of-the-art metabolic kitchen.
Based within the Leicester Diabetes Centre at Leicester General Hospital, you will work with a multidisciplinary team of researchers, staff, students, and visitors. You will contribute to supervising junior staff and students, and may assist with data management and research outputs.
About you
You will hold a relevant undergraduate or postgraduate qualification in Dietetics with HCPC registration. Clinical experience in the NHS, long-term conditions, or research is desirable but not essential. You should have strong knowledge of dietetic practice, including interventions and measurement of habitual diet, and a commitment to professional development. Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and multi-tasking skills are essential.
