Working in our Data Division: At Open Cosmos, our Data division transforms satellite data into meaningful insights that drive real-world impact. The team delivers all data products generated by Open Cosmos and its partners, curates and develops DataCosmos (our geospatial data platform) and builds integrations that make satellite imagery easy to access and act on.

What will you be doing? As a Test Engineer in the Data Team you will help ensure the quality and reliability of the DataCosmos platform, testing everything from frontend interfaces and APIs through to data flows and platform behaviour as we continue to scale our products and capabilities. You’ll be:

  • Defining and implementing testing strategies across platform features and releases
  • Designing, building, and maintaining automated tests for frontend and backend systems
  • Carrying out manual and exploratory testing across user journeys and edge cases
  • Validating data flows, outputs, and platform reliability
  • Collaborating with engineering and product teams to define acceptance criteria and test coverage
  • Supporting CI/CD pipelines and improving automated testing within release cycles
  • Identifying gaps in coverage and driving improvements in testing practices and frameworks
  • Investigating defects across UI, API, and data layers
  • Reviewing user and admin documentation to ensure clarity and alignment with system behaviour

What You’ll bring:

  • Ability to design reliable and repeatable tests using manual and automated approaches
  • Understanding of different testing strategies including integration, regression, system, and exploratory testing
  • Ability to build automated tests for web UIs and APIs using modern testing frameworks
  • Understanding of API-driven systems and client-server architectures
  • Ability to validate data integrity, transformations, and outputs within data platforms
  • Awareness of CI/CD practices and testing within release pipelines
  • Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail when identifying defects and inconsistencies
  • Understanding of user workflows and the ability to test from different user perspectives
  • A collaborative and pragmatic approach, balancing speed and quality in a scaling environment
