Our Systems Team brings together brilliant Engineers who turn ambitious mission concepts into reality. As Open Cosmos continues to scale, we’re growing our Systems Engineering team and are looking for a number of Systems Engineers to support the delivery of complex space missions across the full development lifecycle. This role is ideal for engineers looking to deepen their systems engineering capability while working closely with multidisciplinary teams across spacecraft design, integration, and validation.
What You'll Be Doing
- Supporting spacecraft system design, integration, and verification activities across multiple missions
- Contributing to system architecture definition and interface management between spacecraft subsystems
- Performing system-level analysis, trade studies, and performance assessments within assigned areas
- Supporting requirements definition, traceability, and verification activities across systems and subsystems
- Contributing to verification and validation planning, execution, and issue resolution activities
- Applying MBSE methodologies and tools to support structured system development
- Maintaining system models, technical documentation, and engineering artefacts throughout the project lifecycle
- Supporting FMECA activities and contributing to Fault Detection, Isolation and Recovery (FDIR) strategies
- Working closely with subsystem teams across power, AOCS, communications, propulsion, thermal, and mechanical domains
- Supporting Assembly, Integration and Test (AIT) activities including functional and environmental testing
- Providing technical support to suppliers, design reviews, bids, and mission documentation activities
What You’ll Bring
- Strong understanding of systems engineering principles within satellite or complex multidisciplinary engineering environments
- Knowledge of spacecraft subsystems and system-level design concepts
- Familiarity with requirements management, verification, validation, and interface control activities
- Awareness of MBSE methodologies and tools such as Capella, MagicDraw, or similar platforms
- Understanding of FMECA, FDIR, CONOPS, system budgets, and mission-level analysis activities
- Capability to support integration, testing, and troubleshooting activities within complex engineering programmes
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary technical teams
- A structured and methodical approach to problem-solving with strong attention to detail
- A proactive mindset with a willingness to learn, adapt, and contribute across the full mission lifecycle
