Aim high, go beyond! At Open Cosmos we are solving the world’s biggest challenges from space, providing businesses, governments and researchers access to more readily available information than ever before - ready for the challenge? Then read on… The Satcom team is responsible for the design, delivery and performance of Open Cosmos’ satellite communications services, spanning the space segment, ground infrastructure and global connectivity. We’re now looking for a Senior Spectrum Systems Engineer to take ownership of how spectrum compliance is designed into our satellite systems from day one.

What will you be doing? As Senior Spectrum Systems Engineer you’ll take the lead on translating spectrum regulations into system design—using modelling and simulation to ensure compliance without compromising performance. You will:

  • Translate regulatory constraints (EPFD, PFD, EIRP) into system and sub-system requirements
  • Build and own end-to-end simulation models for interference and spectrum compliance
  • Define system design limits ("design-to-compliance") for payload and user terminals
  • Model interference, coexistence, and mitigation strategies across constellations
  • Produce high-quality datasets to support ITU filings and coordination
  • Lead verification and validation of spectrum compliance (ground and in-orbit)
  • Shape spectrum usage strategies (frequency reuse, beam hopping, power control)
  • Support external regulatory engagement (ITU-R, WRC) with simulation-backed insight

What You’ll bring:

  • Strong systems engineering fundamentals (requirements, V&V), ideally in an MBSE environment
  • Deep understanding of RF spectrum compliance (EPFD, PFD, EIRP, emissions)
  • Experience with tools like Visualyse EPFD, STK, or similar
  • Strong Python or MATLAB skills for simulation and analysis
  • Solid understanding of LEO systems, link budgets, and orbital dynamics
  • Knowledge of ITU-R regulations and NGSO systems
  • Familiarity with DVB-S2X, 3GPP NTN, or similar standards

This role will be based in any of our locations. To apply, you must have the legal right to work in your chosen location. When applying, please submit your CV in English.

Why Open Cosmos?

  • Work at the cutting edge of space technology with customers around the globe.
  • A mission-driven company making space accessible to help solve real-world challenges.
  • A diverse, ambitious, and supportive team.
