Opem are a bespoke electronic security provider based in central London. We are looking for someone with an entrepreneurial flare and laser sharp customer focus at their core to join our team. The most important aspect of this role is to find a person who will fit with our company ethics, beliefs and having the client at the centre of our service offering.
We are seeking an experienced CCTV and Access Control Engineer to service, maintain, and troubleshoot a range of security systems for our clients in central London. The successful candidate will carry out routine maintenance, fault diagnosis, and corrective repairs on CCTV (analogue/IP/Digital), IP cameras, NVRs/DVRs, and access control systems (readers, controllers, door hardware, intercoms). This role focuses on delivering reliable, secure, and compliant systems to protect people and assets while providing excellent client service.
Key Responsibilities- Perform planned preventive maintenance and reactive servicing on CCTV and access control systems across multiple sites in Central London.
- Fault finding, diagnostics, repairs, and component replacement of cameras, switches, cabling, NVR/DVRs, readers, locks, power supplies, and related peripherals.
- Commission minor system changes and assist with small-scale installations/upgrade works as required.
- Maintain accurate service records, call logs, and movement of stock; log all faults and actions in the maintenance management system.
- Liaise with clients to diagnose issues, provide practical solutions, and minimise disruption to operations.
- Configure and manage access rights, user credentials, door schedules, and alarm integration as needed.
- Support basic network configuration (IP addressing, VLANs, port forwards) where applicable.
- Ensure all tools, equipment, and vehicles are maintained and compliant with safety standards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying recurring issues and suggesting service enhancements.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience servicing CCTV and access control systems, preferably with a security integrator.
- Hands-on experience with IP CCTV, NVRs/DVRs, surveillance cameras, door entry systems, readers (proximity, smart cards, biometrics), and related peripherals.
- Basic networking knowledge (IP addressing, switches, VLANs, remote access) and familiarity with standard security software/maintenance tools.
- Electrical/electronic or security systems background; higher education in Electronics/Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
- Must have an ECS card.
- Ability to obtain or maintain DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance as a requirement of NSI Nacoss Gold certification.
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving mindset with a methodical approach to diagnostics.
- Strong customer service and communication skills; ability to explain technical issues to non-technical clients.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team; comfortable working in dynamic, client-facing environments.
- Basic documentation and reporting capabilities; experience with maintenance management systems is a plus.
