OCU Group have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Setting Out Engineer to join us! The purpose of the role is to take responsibility for accurately marking and establishing the position of structures, roads, pipelines, and other features on construction sites. This role requires a strong understanding of construction drawings, surveying techniques, and the ability to use precision instruments to ensure that the construction work meets design specifications.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct precise measurements and surveying to determine the exact location of structures, foundations, roads, and other features on construction sites.
  • Interpret construction drawings and plans to guide the setting out process.
  • Mark reference points and benchmarks on-site for construction activities.
  • Use total stations, GPS equipment, and other surveying instruments to set out the layout of structures and infrastructure elements.
  • Regularly inspect and assess the accuracy of the work against design specifications.
  • Identify and rectify discrepancies or deviations from the plans.
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment between design intent and on-site construction.
  • Record and document survey data, measurements, and setting out information.
  • Generate reports and maintain accurate records of construction layout activities.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations on construction sites.
  • Identify and mitigate potential hazards related to setting out activities.

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor\'s degree in Civil Engineering, Land Surveying, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Setting Out Engineer on construction projects.
  • Proficient in the use of surveying equipment such as total stations, GPS, and levelling instruments.
  • Familiarity with relevant software for data analysis and reporting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse project teams.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to solve problems and make decisions on-site.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in surveying and setting out activities.
