Mechanical Fitter

A Water Industry Mechanical Fitter is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical systems within water and wastewater infrastructure. This includes working on pipes, pumps, valves, and associated equipment in line with technical drawings, specifications, and strict safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Installation & Fabrication: Install and assemble pipes, valves, pumps, and other mechanical equipment for water and wastewater systems, potentially fabricating components as needed.
  • Fault Finding: Diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical equipment and fluid power systems using specialised tools and diagnostic techniques to identify and resolve issues.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure all work complies with company and industry health and safety regulations, particularly in potentially hazardous environments like confined spaces.
  • Teamwork: Collaborate with engineers and project managers to meet specifications and work as part of a mechanical and electrical team.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience in mechanical fitting, preferably within the water or utilities sector, with skills in pumps, pipework, and gearboxes.
