Role Overview
The Finance Controller is responsible for leading the finance function of Office Principles, ensuring the business has accurate financial information, robust financial controls and reliable reporting to support effective decision-making.
Working closely with the Directors and senior leadership team, the Finance Controller will oversee the day-to-day finance operation, including financial reporting, forecasting, cash flow, compliance and statutory obligations. The role will also play a key part in modernising the finance function by improving systems, streamlining processes and embracing technology to drive greater efficiency, automation and insight.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Management
- Produce accurate monthly management accounts, forecasts and cash flow reports.
- Support the annual budgeting process and monitor performance against budget.
- Prepare Board reporting with clear financial commentary and analysis.
- Maintain strong financial controls and ensure the integrity of financial data.
Financial Operations
- Oversee the day-to-day finance function, working with outsourced finance support where appropriate.
- Manage payment runs, sales invoicing, bank reconciliations and cash management.
- Ensure the timely completion of VAT returns, payroll journals, commission payments, P11D, PSA and CIS returns.
- Maintain balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepayments and intercompany accounts.
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with statutory, tax and regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with external accountants, auditors and banking partners.
- Maintain effective financial policies, controls and audit trails.
Continuous Improvement & Business Support
- Continuously improve finance processes, systems and reporting.
- Champion the use of technology and AI to automate routine tasks and improve efficiency.
- Produce meaningful management information and KPIs to support business decision-making.
- Build strong working relationships across the business and support the leadership team with timely financial insight.
What we are Looking For
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) is preferable but not essential.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to provide strategic financial insight and support business growth.
- Experience within construction, office fit-out, design & build or other project-based industries would be beneficial.
- Confident communicator who can build strong relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Proactive, organised with a positive and motivated mindset.
- Experience improving finance systems and processes and implementing reporting improvements.
