As part of the team, you will manage specific compliance strands of cross-functional deliverables. A confident communicator, working with departments across the business, you will ensure key stakeholders understand the impact of any regulatory and product compliance requirements across our product range.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement and manage the certification process for assigned projects, ensuring products meet strict requirements for global markets.
  • Act as the primary point of contact/consultant to the project team in the areas of Chemical Compliance – Restricted Substances, tracking and collection of test reports to ensure compliance requirements are met.
  • Collect and maintain test reports from suppliers against EU regulation and EU national differences, as well as US FDA and China GB standards for Food Contact Materials.
  • Ensure product labelling and packaging regulatory requirements across all markets are met.
  • Apply all relevant technical standards (gas and electrical) properly, including gas appliance regulations, electrical safety, wireless/EMC certifications and functional safety principles.
  • Plan 6–12 months ahead, aligning your work with department goals and keeping stakeholders informed.
  • Solve functional problems independently on a week‑to‑week basis and adapt quickly to unforeseen circumstances.
  • Distill dense regulatory standards (e.g., IEC, EN, UL, FCC/IC, AS/NZS, GB) into clear engineering specifications and design inputs.
  • Produce and maintain compliance declarations and product technical files, ensuring they meet all regulatory requirements.
  • Act as the vital link between Ooni and test labs; quality-check and challenge work from external partners.
  • Assess data fairly to make well‑informed decisions, knowing when to seek support from senior members for decisions involving incomplete data.
  • Navigate electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), impulse, and transient voltage requirements as part of certification planning.
Essential Skills and Experience
  • Electrical or firmware engineering experience with a track record of navigating consumer goods regulations.
  • Hands‑on experience with Root‑Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA / PFMEA).
  • Ability to summarize complex information and present it confidently to an audience of peers or the immediate team.
  • Proven ability to assess EMC, impulse, and transient voltage test results and coordinate retests with labs.

  • Working knowledge of key regulatory/compliance requirements common to our products – Regulatory, Labelling & Packaging, Cybersecurity and Gas & Electric Technical Standards across the EU, US, Australia and China.
Nice to have
  • Experience of managing compliance requirements within a heavily regulated industry, such as medical, automotive or aerospace.
