As part of our plans, we’re looking for a Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) Engineer to join our product development team in Broxburn, West Lothian. If you find yourself interacting with products thinking “This is good, but we could make it better” then keep reading!

In this hands-on, technical role, you will perform mechanical engineering investigations and root-cause fault finding across the entire product lifecycle. You will operate with autonomy, from stress-testing early prototypes to diagnosing complex failures in production-ready units. This position demands a relentless passion for product improvement and a methodical approach to uncovering technical flaws to ensure peak performance and reliability. This is an on-site role, working 5 days per week from our office in Broxburn, West Lothian.

What you’ll do

  • Root Cause Analysis: Perform investigations into field returns and production failures to identify fundamental mechanical flaws.
  • Technical Fault Finding: Diagnose complex issues in prototypes and production units using methodical stress testing and data analysis.
  • CAD: Refine and enhance existing CAD designs for released products, and collaborate with external suppliers on the conceptualisation and implementation of new designs.
  • Product Optimisation: Investigate released products to explore areas for improvement across design, function & cost.
  • Design Iteration: Execute engineering changes to help resolve quality issues and maintain traceability.
  • Validation Testing: Develop and run rigorous test protocols to verify that design improvements meet safety and functional standards.
  • Global Collaboration: Coordinate with Asia-Pacific manufacturing partners to ensure seamless implementation of technical fixes.
  • Documentation: Maintain precise engineering records, including updated BOMs, Test and RCA reports.

What we’re looking for

  • 2 years+ of professional experience in relevant CAD software packages, with expertise in surface modeling and advanced design methodologies. SolidWorks preferable.
  • Degree or qualification in Engineering or relevant field.
  • A solid theoretical background in engineering principles.
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency in sheet metal work, combining workshop experience with the use of hand-tools and test equipment.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical challenges with overseas manufacturing partners.

Bonus points

  • Solidworks CAD software and sheet metal tool add ins.
  • Electrical Arduino skills.
  • Design of Experiments.
  • Matlab/Python.
  • Six Sigma or equivalent methodologies.
  • Sheet metal and plastic part design for manufacture.
  • Additive and subtractive manufacturing techniques and technologies.
