Business Analyst - CRM SaaS implementations in Peterborough

Peterborough Full-Time No working from home possible
oomi

oomi provides CRM and digital solutions to professional bodies, trade associations and other membership organisations across the UK.

We're looking for an experienced Business Analyst to play a key role in implementing oomi for our clients.

This is a highly client-facing role. You'll work with organisations to understand how they operate, challenge and clarify their requirements, determine how those needs can best be met using the oomi platform, and translate the agreed solution into clear requirements for our delivery teams.

We're looking for someone who can do more than document what a client asks for. A good BA at oomi needs to understand the underlying business problem, distinguish genuine requirements from preferences, challenge unnecessary complexity and help clients make good decisions.

The role

You'll become an expert in the oomi platform and use that knowledge alongside strong business analysis and consultancy skills.

You'll lead discovery workshops, understand business processes and objectives, undertake fit-gap analysis and help clients determine how oomi should be configured to support their organisation.

Where requirements cannot be met through standard functionality, you'll define the requirement clearly enough for our technical teams to design, estimate, build and test the appropriate solution.

You'll remain involved throughout implementation, providing continuity between what was originally agreed with the client and what is ultimately delivered.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead client discovery and requirements workshops.
  • Understand clients' organisations, processes, objectives and underlying business problems.
  • Capture, analyse and prioritise business and functional requirements.
  • Challenge requirements constructively where there is a simpler or better way of achieving the client's objective.
  • Carry out fit-gap analysis against the oomi platform.
  • Recommend solutions using standard product functionality wherever possible.
  • Help configure and demonstrate prototypes to validate proposed solutions.
  • Produce clear Confirmation of Requirements and solution documentation.
  • Translate requirements into well-structured user stories, acceptance criteria and delivery tasks.
  • Work with Engineering, QA, Data and other specialists to ensure requirements are understood and feasible.
  • Maintain traceability between agreed requirements and delivered solutions.
  • Identify scope changes and ensure these are raised with the Project Manager rather than quietly absorbed into delivery.
  • Identify risks, assumptions and dependencies and communicate them clearly.
  • Support estimation and scoping of client change requests.
  • Provide solution guidance throughout implementation and help resolve ambiguity or conflicting requirements.
  • Deliver solution playbacks and contribute to client training where appropriate.
  • Feed recurring client requirements and product gaps back into the Product team.
  • Help improve oomi's analysis, discovery and implementation practices.

What we're looking for

You'll probably have at least three years' experience as a Business Analyst, Implementation Consultant, Solution Consultant or similar role, ideally within SaaS or business software.

We're particularly interested in people who:

  • Are excellent at understanding how organisations and business processes actually work.
  • Ask good questions and are prepared to keep asking until the real requirement is understood.
  • Can distinguish a business requirement from a proposed solution.
  • Are confident facilitating workshops with senior client stakeholders.
  • Can challenge clients constructively rather than simply recording everything requested.
  • Can translate complex requirements into clear documentation for technical teams.
  • Have experience working directly with software developers, testers and project managers.
  • Understand user stories, acceptance criteria and agile software delivery.
  • Are comfortable balancing client needs, product capability, technical complexity and commercial reality.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Have strong attention to detail without losing sight of the bigger picture.
  • Learn new products and business domains quickly.

Experience with CRM, membership systems, CMS platforms, portals, event systems or other business-critical SaaS applications would be particularly useful.

Knowledge of professional bodies, trade associations, charities or membership organisations would be an advantage, but isn't essential.

Experience with tools such as Jira, Miro or Visio is useful, but we're much more interested in your analytical and consulting ability than which tools you've used.

Why oomi?

You'll work with organisations whose CRM sits at the heart of their operations – managing members, subscriptions, events, communications, finance and digital services.

That creates genuinely interesting business analysis work: understanding complex organisations and helping them simplify and improve the way they operate.

We offer:

  • A genuinely flexible, predominantly remote working environment.
  • Competitive salary and pension.
  • Professional development support.
  • The opportunity to become a genuine expert in a specialist SaaS platform.
  • Significant exposure to clients and senior stakeholders.
  • The opportunity to influence our product and implementation methodology as we grow.
  • Career development within a growing technology business.

Location: UK-based. You'll need a suitable home-working environment and be willing to travel for client meetings and company events when required.
