Role Description

As a Business Development Executive, you’ll be responsible for identifying and qualifying new business opportunities within the UK membership sector. You’ll be handling incoming enquiries and initiating outbound communications, to ensure that our sales team has a ready pipeline of qualified opportunities. You’ll be nurturing relationships with key personnel within professional bodies and trade associations, and be able to hold peer-to-peer conversations about their operations and challenges. This is an exciting new role with oomi, and an opportunity to become part of a dynamic team that has delivered significant growth in the membership sector in recent years.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactive Prospecting: Identify and target membership organisations (professional bodies, trade associations, etc) through multi-channel outreach (LinkedIn, email, events, and telemarketing).
  • Nurture Relationships: Follow up on incoming enquiries and other marketing touchpoints and activities.
  • Discovery & Qualification: Conduct deep-dive discovery calls to profile organisations and their drivers, understand their pain points, and qualify enquiries and book appointments for the Sales team.
  • Value Proposition: Articulate the benefits of our solutions, including our oomiCRM platform, and our website and digital services.
  • Pipeline Management: Maintain clean and accurate prospecting and communication records with CRM (using Pipedrive) to track your progress and forecast effectively. Liaise with our Sales team and provide regular updates and reports.
  • Market Insight: Stay up-to-date with UK membership trends and the competitive landscape.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience: at least 3 years in a B2B customer service, marketing, sales or lead generation role, preferably within enterprise software solutions. Ideally with SaaS or UK non-profit sector knowledge.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written English. You can craft a compelling narrative, not just a generic pitch.
  • Resilience: You view 'no' as a detour, not a dead end. You have a high-activity mindset.
  • Tech-Savvy: Comfortable navigating CRM tools and sales intelligence platforms (e.g. Sales Navigator).
  • Cultural Fit: You are self-motivated, collaborative, and ready to thrive in a fast-paced 'scale-up' environment.
