We are expanding our Advanced Sensing team and are looking for a talented Hardware Engineer to help deliver robust, industrial-grade hardware for global deployment. In this role, you’ll ensure products are engineered, tested, certified, and ready to perform reliably in demanding environments at scale. This is a hands-on role for an engineer who enjoys taking ownership from concept through to global deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Hardware development
- Work within the Advanced Sensing Development team to deliver hardware and sensor solutions for both internal and external customers.
- Propose practical, robust solutions to engineering challenges across enclosures, cable assemblies, connectors, protection, and integration.
- Build, assemble, and iterate prototypes to support product development and validation.
- Testing and validation
- Lead NPI testing activities, proposing and executing test strategies for new hardware solutions.
- Create clear test plans and detailed technical specifications.
- Manage and perform in-house testing to validate performance, reliability, and compliance.
- Coordinate third-party testing with external suppliers, including environmental, EMC, shock, and vibration testing.
- Evaluate new components and suppliers to support reliable, scalable production.
- Technical documentation and compliance
- Create and maintain high-quality technical documentation, including user manuals and assembly guides.
- Work closely with the Quality team to ensure test reports, certifications, and technical documentation are accurate, complete, and maintained to the required standards.
- Support and lead certification activities for electronics used in industrial environments.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Experience working in a hardware, electronics, or industrial product development environment.
- Strong practical engineering skills with proven hands-on technical experience.
- Background in electrical, electronic, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline.
- A methodical, detail-oriented approach with a strong sense of ownership and follow-through.
- Experience working with engineering standards and certification requirements.
- A collaborative mindset, able to communicate effectively with engineering colleagues and external suppliers.
- Ability to learn quickly and develop a deep understanding of products and systems.
- Experience using ARENA or a similar PLM system.
- Experience using JIRA or a similar planning or delivery tool.
- Experience leading or supporting certification to one or more of the following standards: CE, UL, UKCA.
