Your future duties and responsibilities: As a Service Designer at CGI, you’ll be instrumental in shaping and delivering user-centred services for various UK government departments. Your work will enhance the way citizens interact with government services, making them more cohesive and efficient.

  • Understanding users' needs and behaviours, analysing evidence, and translating user stories into service concepts
  • Developing service strategies and visions that drive innovative solutions
  • Mapping and designing complex service ecosystems, considering all touchpoints, channels, service layers and actors
  • Creating high-level service prototypes, storyboards or walk-throughs to communicate, test and iterate ideas
  • Collaborating with other user-centred design disciplines including supporting user research activities
  • Ensuring all designs comply with the GOV.UK design system and accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2 AA)
  • Working to the GOV.UK service manual, service standards, and agile delivery phases
  • Engaging team members, stakeholders, and service users in co-creation activities, workshops and design sprints
  • Clearly communicating service concepts and propositions through storytelling and visualisation
  • Presenting work to the team and stakeholders, ensuring design approaches meet policy and regulatory objectives
  • Championing the value of design thinking and empathy, influencing stakeholders to adopt a user-centred approach
  • Helping to embed a culture of continuous improvement using data, user feedback, and analysis to iterate and refine services over time

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

  • Experience developing service propositions for complex projects
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate design decisions effectively
  • Proactive and happy to work as part of a team and independently
  • Strong influencing skills and the ability to advocate for users
  • Ability to identify and challenge constraints
  • Collaborative and comfortable working in the open and receiving critique
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement approaches with the ability to use data and user feedback to iterate designs
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to co-create and solve design challenges within a team and across teams
  • Knowledge of the GOV.UK design system, design principles, service manual, and accessibility standards
