Your future duties and responsibilities: As an Interaction Designer at CGI, you’ll play a crucial role in shaping the user experience of UK government digital services. Your work will enhance the way citizens interact with government services, making them more intuitive, efficient and accessible.

Key duties include:

  • Designing user journeys that are intuitive and seamless
  • Developing low to high-fidelity prototypes using the GOV.UK prototyping toolkit
  • Prototyping collaboratively, from early sketches to high-fidelity clickable prototypes
  • Collaborating with other user-centred design disciplines to create effective government services
  • Assisting with user research and usability testing activities
  • Understanding users' needs and behaviours, and translating user stories into designs
  • Creating designs which adhere to the GOV.UK design system and accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2 AA)
  • Following the GOV.UK service manual and agile delivery phases
  • Presenting design work to the team and stakeholders, ensuring it meets policy and regulatory objectives
  • Communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Promoting the value of design thinking and empathy, influencing stakeholders to adopt a user-centred approach

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

  • Working experience in using the GOV.UK prototyping toolkit
  • Good communication skills and the ability to articulate design decisions effectively
  • Experience in designing user journeys and prototyping for different screen sizes
  • Proactive and happy to work as part of a team and independently
  • Good influencing skills and the ability to advocate for users
  • Working knowledge of the GOV.UK design system, design principles, service manual and accessibility standards
  • Ability to identify constraints to ensure designs are feasible and meet user needs
  • Comfortable working in the open and receiving critique
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement approaches with the ability to use data and user feedback to iterate designs
  • Good collaboration skills and the ability to co-create and solve design challenges within a team and across teams
