Our client is an insurance underwriter in the City of London and is looking to grow its software development team. The ideal candidate will have strong C# development skills and be able to work in a technology-rich, agile environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and support applications using Visual Studio and related tools.
  • Initiate and promote improvements to management information (MI) and analysis.
  • Analyse requirements and provide the most suitable solutions using appropriate technology.
  • Document, support, and upgrade a wide range of internal applications and processes.
  • Produce ad hoc reporting and analysis from the Data Warehouse.
  • Work as part of a team and, where appropriate, take ownership of specific systems while remaining aware of the overall architecture.
  • Communicate with all areas of the business at all levels.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • At least 5–7 years of experience developing complex software with C#.
  • Expertise in C# development with Java/jQuery Web development, Web API, CSS.
  • Solid SQL Server experience (stored procedures, table design, and some maintenance).
  • Microsoft Office, including VBA and advanced skills in Excel and HTML/IIS.
  • Ability to develop and support applications; experience with SharePoint reporting is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Drive to succeed, with the ability to participate in IT strategy in a technology-rich, agile environment.
  • 2:1 degree in Maths, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Location & Client Systems

The client uses Windows Servers, virtualised Windows clients, and Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.). They also use Office 365, Microsoft SQL Server, and SharePoint for intranet needs. For underwriting, they use Eclipse; for accounts, Sun; and other tools such as RMS for Modelling and Remetrica for Actuarial functions.

Salary & How to Apply

The salary for this role will be up to £50K, with potential for slightly higher compensation for exceptional candidates.
