Reality Solutions is a leading regional IT Solutions Provider and Sage Accredited Business Partner based in Hull. We are looking for an enthusiastic Junior Software Developer to join our development team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone early in their development career who enjoys solving business problems through technology and wants to work across both traditional software development and the Microsoft Power Platform.

You will contribute to the development and support of internal and client-facing business systems, helping to deliver innovative solutions using technologies such as .NET, SQL Server, and Microsoft Power Apps.

About the Role

This role is ideal for a developer with a solid technical foundation who is eager to learn and grow. You will work alongside experienced developers and consultants, supporting the development of business applications, database solutions, and Power Platform applications. A significant part of the role will involve designing, developing, and enhancing Microsoft Power Apps Canvas Applications to help automate business processes and improve user experiences for our clients and internal teams. You will gain exposure to the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and solution design through to development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain applications using VB.NET and C#.
  • Design, build, and enhance Microsoft Power Apps Canvas Applications.
  • Assist in developing solutions using the wider Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Automate and Dataverse.
  • Design, write, and optimise SQL Server queries and stored procedures.
  • Implement new features and improve existing functionality across internal and customer systems.
  • Debug, test, and resolve software defects.
  • Work with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into practical technical solutions.
  • Support and improve existing legacy applications while contributing to platform modernisation initiatives.
  • Integrate business applications with third-party systems and APIs.
  • Produce technical documentation and support handover activities.
  • Follow development standards, version control practices, and release procedures.
  • Participate in code reviews and team knowledge-sharing activities.

About you

You may already have commercial development experience or have developed your skills through education, placements, apprenticeships, or personal projects. You should be comfortable working with technology, willing to learn new tools and approaches, and able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues. Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience with software development using VB.NET and/or C# (commercial, educational, or personal projects considered).
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft SQL Server and relational database concepts.
  • Experience writing SQL queries and working with data.
  • Understanding of software testing and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication skills and willingness to work collaboratively.
  • Desire to learn new technologies and continuously develop technical skills.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience creating or supporting Microsoft Power Apps Canvas Applications.
  • Exposure to Power Automate and broader Microsoft Power Platform technologies.
  • Experience with ASP.NET, .NET Core, or Web APIs.
  • Familiarity with Dataverse and Microsoft 365 integrations.
  • Exposure to ERP or business management systems such as Sage 200.
  • Experience integrating with REST APIs.
  • Knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, or CSS.
  • Cloud exposure (Azure preferred).
  • Understanding of DevOps or CI/CD concepts.
  • Mobile application development exposure (e.g. Flutter/Dart).
