You and your role

We are looking for a talented and ambitious Content Designer who can take a high-level view of how a user\’s content journey maps to our business processes.

We need you to ensure that life events and holistic user needs are driving the way we design user journeys. Our users are some of the most vulnerable in society and your work would have an impact on how they interact with their complex needs.

You will be driving DWP Digital\’s content on the GOV.UK website to make sure the content published meets users\’ needs and the department\’s goals, consistently managing and influencing our senior stakeholders while working across product, service and departmental lines.

We want someone who will experiment with new ways of working with the Government Digital Service to improve the effectiveness and timeliness of DWP\’s GOV.UK content.

You work with and develop less experienced content designers, help develop content strategy and refine solutions for complex products and services.

Your essential skills and experience:

  • Extensive experience designing accessible and plain English content, and contributing to content patterns, processes or guidelines.
  • Substantial experience of using quantitative and qualitative data to make content decisions.
  • Have used different types of prototypes to show, explain and test your content.
  • Substantial experience of peer review and of contributing to a community of practice.
  • Collaborated with other disciplines and advocated for the role of content design.
  • Managed relationships with stakeholders and influenced them to make more user-centred and evidence-based decisions.
  • Contributed to content strategies or initiatives to help your organisation achieve the right outcomes.

You\’ll join us based at one of our brilliant digital hubs in either Birmingham, Blackpool, Leeds, London, Manchester, Newcastle or Sheffield.

In return for your skills, we offer pay up to £45,081 per annum.

You\’ll also get a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions of 28.97%. That\’s worth up to £12,345 a year.
