As a Wintel Consultant, you will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing core Windows-based platforms, ensuring stability, security, and performance across a complex estate. Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of delivering 3rd line Wintel support across a secure and complex infrastructure estate, ensuring high availability, performance, and compliance of critical systems.
  • Operate within SLA‑driven frameworks, resolving complex incidents, supporting BAU operations, and contributing to infrastructure improvements that enhance resilience and efficiency.
  • Work closely with internal teams to maintain core Windows services while identifying opportunities to automate processes, optimise environments, and strengthen platform stability.
  • Support & resolve complex 3rd line Wintel incidents within agreed SLAs.
  • Maintain & optimise Windows Server environments and Active Directory services.
  • Administer & support VMware virtualisation platforms.
  • Support & enhance Citrix environments where applicable.
  • Manage & maintain Group Policy and DNS configurations.
  • Support & deliver Microsoft Exchange administration and services.
  • Monitor & improve infrastructure performance and system health.
  • Automate & streamline operational tasks using scripting (e.g. PowerShell).
  • Contribute & deliver infrastructure project work and platform enhancements.
  • Ensure & uphold security, governance, and compliance standards.

Qualifications

  • Strong 3rd line Wintel support experience within enterprise or secure environments.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues and maintain critical infrastructure services.
  • Solid foundation across Windows technologies and virtualisation.
  • Proactive approach to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Strong experience in Windows Server and Active Directory environments.
  • Proven expertise in Group Policy and DNS management.
  • Hands‑on experience supporting VMware virtualisation platforms.
  • Experience administering Microsoft Exchange environments.
  • Familiarity with backup and anti‑virus technologies.
  • Exposure to Citrix environments.
  • Proficiency in scripting, particularly PowerShell.
  • Experience working within secure or regulated environments.
  • Awareness of monitoring tools such as Zabbix (desirable).
  • Exposure to automation or emerging technologies (desirable).
