Onyx Capital Group is a dynamic financial services firm launching new businesses and looking for strong hands-on professionals to handle day-to-day financial operations in a regulated environment. The centralised Onyx Finance Team are hiring for a Junior Accountant to provide day-to-day support. This role is ideal for someone with 1–3 years’ experience in the financial/accounting industry who is looking to grow and take on more responsibility over time.

Job responsibilities:

  • Support financial operations across the group
  • Promote consistency through shared services across the group and various jurisdictions
  • Perform bank reconciliations and resolve variances
  • Support the Finance Manager with month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Gain exposure to commodity derivatives and their accounting treatment
  • Assist with audits and internal reporting
  • Handle key transactional finance tasks including:
  • Sales and purchases ledger maintenance (including aged debtor and payable reports)
  • Preparation of weekly supplier payment runs
  • Daily journal entries
  • Monthly journal entries (including accruals, prepayments and fixed asset depreciation)

Qualifications and experience:

  • 1–3 years’ accounting or financial services experience
  • Strong grasp of core accounting principles and double-entry
  • General knowledge of derivatives and/or commodity trading would be beneficial
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive attitude towards daily tasks
  • Commitment to working hard and fitting into a collaborative team environment
  • Availability for full-time, office-based work, 5 days per week, from 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Accounting/Finance degree or equivalent (part-qualified/fully-qualified)
