About The Role
Senior Financial Accountant - Assets, to join the Finance team on a permanent basis.
The role supports financial accounting services including monthly management reporting, performance reports, internal control compliance and statutory reports.
It ensures correct treatment of the Group's capital expenditure, including components accounting, housing properties, land, fixed assets, disposals and shared ownership schemes.

Responsibilities
- Fixed Asset Register
- Maintain and ensure the accuracy of the fixed asset register.
- Implement controls for asset classification and useful economic life.
- Oversee depreciation to deliver high‑quality statutory and regulatory reports.
- Accounting
- Support the preparation of annual financial accounts for group and subsidiary entities, including consolidation and statutory disclosures.
- Coordinate with external and internal auditors, provide information, resolve queries and implement improvement recommendations.
- Reporting
- Coordinate month‑end accounts and prepare control account reconciliations and analysis.
- Ensure reporting is delivered within agreed group time‑scales.
- Link data analysis with other teams and provide data assurance for informed decision‑making.
- Collaboration
- Collaborate with finance colleagues to develop and maintain effective processes and reporting systems.
- Promote cross‑team collaboration and support mentoring for finance team members.
- Provide support to the finance team during peak times or major projects.
- Process Improvement
- Drive continual process improvement to enhance financial control and assurance across the group.
- Link data analysis with other teams and ensure data assurance for decision‑making.
Skills / Experience – Essential
- Experience in an asset‑focused accounting role.
- People management and development experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to plan and prioritise workload.
- Capability to work at all organisational levels.
- Experience developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders.
- Good knowledge of various accounting software packages.
- Full UK driving licence and own car.
Skills / Experience – Desirable
- Experience in the housing sector.
- Good technical understanding of asset accounting and capitalisation.
- Experience with fixed asset software.
- Experience in a financial accounting role.
- Experience in year‑end processes and working with external auditors.
Qualifications – Essential
- Full/Part or working towards a recognised accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or relevant professional experience.
