We are seeking an Operations Manager – Housing Repairs to lead the delivery of our housing repairs service across the Merseyside region. This key leadership role ensures contractual commitments, KPIs, a first‑time‑fix culture and a motivated workforce delivering excellent customer experience. Based from our Watson Building (Liverpool) office, the successful candidate will directly manage in‑house trade colleagues operating throughout Merseyside and Wirral. The role involves close collaboration with neighbourhood teams and occasional home working.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivery & Quality: Manage day‑to‑day repair teams to deliver quality, customer‑focused services that provide excellent value for money. Support delivery of a plan and continuous improvements, ensuring effective quality control and assurance.
  • Resources: Manage productivity and work‑planning systems to utilise resources efficiently, including supply chain. Deliver agreed KPIs and operating plans. Identify improvement opportunities and support direct reports.
  • Financial & Value for Money: Achieve operational and financial targets in line with business aims. Identify and implement new business or operational streams to maximise value for money.
  • Health & Safety: Adopt safe working methods, adhere to H&S measures and ensure operatives are qualified and trained to required standards.
  • Systems: Maintain appropriate systems and controls that support project delivery, continuous improvement and risk management.
  • Management, Leadership & Culture Change: Manage budgets, resources and priorities to deliver performance targets and customer satisfaction. Drive culture change based on Onward values.
  • Partnership Working: Build and develop an extensive network of internal and external partnerships, representing the organisation and advocating for customers.

What skills, knowledge, experience and behaviours are we looking for

Essential:

  • Experience managing a similar construction trade‑based maintenance business.
  • Proven ability to deliver a quality, customer‑centred repairs service.
  • Commercial knowledge and understanding.
  • Effective productivity, resource and work‑planning management.
  • Effective supply chain management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with influence over senior stakeholders and customers.
  • Experience managing and leading a high‑performance team within a diverse organisation.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • (HNC) in Building or Construction Relevant.
  • IOSH Health and Safety qualification and/or experience.

Desirable:

  • BSc Building and Construction or Level 6.
  • CIOB, Chartered Surveyor or equivalent relevant qualification.
  • Recognised Trade Qualification.
