The predicted salary is between 32000 - 45000 £ per year.
We are recruiting a Gas Engineer to cover repairs across the Merseyside and Cheshire area providing all day-to-day repairs and vacant properties repairs, for our customers. The suitable candidate will be matched to the closest regional patch in the Merseyside area which includes Liverpool, Runcorn and The Wirral where possible to reduce excessive travel, but candidates may need to cover the Greater Manchester area or Lancashire at times. Start and finish your day from home with no need to attend our office daily - just for team meetings. You may also be required to participate in an emergency 'out of hours' service as required. Provisional Start date - 16th March 2026.
Purpose of the Role
Deliver Gas servicing, installations and breakdown repairs in line with all group standards and key performance indicators. Ensure high standards are consistently met together with observing all legal, statutory and regulatory requirements while undertaking repair activities within customers’ homes, voids and for other clients as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivery: In line with Repairs specification or approved best practice assess, coordinate and undertake the most cost effective repair solution, organising materials, providing detailed information, and effectively communicating with customers, other stakeholders and colleagues to deliver a high quality service. Ensure adequate stock including van stock is available and maintained.
- Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service whilst ensuring prompt work of the required standard.
- Liaison and technical advice: Liaise with clients, customers and colleagues regarding access, safe working practices, and assessment of repairs requirements and progress.
- Records: Complete jobs on PDAs and maintain other records as required including access details, materials used, job progression and follow on information.
- Health and Safety: Undertake work activities in line with all health and safety requirements, demonstrating knowledge of key legislative health and safety information and safe working practices, assisting the promotion of Health & Safety.
- Work equipment: Operation of light machinery, plant and powered hand tools in accordance with recognised safety procedures. Responsible for the safe use and daily maintenance of allocated Company vehicles.
Essential: Skills/Experience
- Experience of gas systems and working within a commercial or property maintenance environment.
- Track record of completing Gas Servicing programmes.
- Experience of working in a customer focused service.
- Proven ability to deliver a quality customer centred repairs service.
- Experience of working in a target driven environment.
- Sound knowledge of health and safety regulations, regulation and ACOPS relevant to the post and associated tasks undertaken within it, in line with HASAWA 1974.
Desirable
- Experience of delivering services within the social housing sector.
- Experience of using PDA technology (hand held/mobile working technology).
Qualifications
- Qualified to City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 (recognised Gas trade qualification).
- Qualified to work with Central heating, Water heaters, Cookers, Pipe work, unvented hot water (formally ACOPS 1-14).
- Qualified Gas Safe Engineer (CCN1) – Install, Commission, Service, Safety Check Natural Gas and LPG and appropriate CSCS card.
- A Full UK Driving Licence is required.
Desirable Qualifications
- Hold relevant health & safety qualifications which relate to the sector.
- Asbestos awareness training.
- Relevant power tool, manual handling training.
- Appropriate and current training in COSHH & PPE.
- Access equipment and working at height training e.g. mobile work platforms.
