Overview
We’re looking for a proactive and forward-thinking Asset Strategy Lead to help shape the future of our homes and communities. In this influential role, you will play a key part in developing a comprehensive and affordable Investment Plan that delivers on our Asset Management Strategy and ensures we remain fully compliant with statutory and regulatory requirements.
You’ll work collaboratively across our Property Teams, helping to drive long-term, sustainable investment decisions that support great outcomes for our customers.

Responsibilities
- Investment Planning: Support the development of detailed investment and sustainability strategies aligned with the Asset Management Strategy, stock sustainability, and the Company Business Plan.
- Work closely with Regional Property Teams to ensure plans are robust, affordable, and future‑focused.
- Programme Development: Assist in building the annual delivery programme alongside Regional Property and Procurement Teams.
- Ensure programmes deliver economies of scale and maintain a diverse supply base.
- Data Management & Insight: Maintain accurate, up-to-date stock condition data; monitor programme delivery and produce regular performance reports; provide data and insight to support internal teams, customers, and stakeholders.
- Specification & Process Design: Contribute to the creation of clear processes and product specifications to strengthen procurement and delivery; collaborate across Onward to develop whole-life costed maintenance solutions.
- Assurance & Validation: Support the implementation of external assurance processes to validate the investment plan and programme.
- Leadership & Culture: Lead and develop your direct report, inspiring high performance, professional growth, and customer-focused delivery; manage budgets, resources, and priorities to ensure efficiency and exceptional outcomes.
- Partnership Working: Build strong internal and external partnerships to represent organisational interests; act as an ambassador for the organisation and advocate for our customers.
Essential: What skills, knowledge and experience are we looking for
- A demonstrable commitment to deliver exceptional customer service
- Demonstrable knowledge of building construction, building standards, planning regulations, regulatory standards, and leasehold legislation
- Knowledge of property appraisal methods and data assessments that inform business decisions
- Track record of managing stock condition data yielding organisational benefits within a similar organisation
- Experience of managing and successfully delivering programmes of Stock Condition surveys
- Experience in the development of asset strategies within the housing sector and knowledge of regulatory and statutory requirements
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) with a proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and customers
- Experience of managing, developing and leading, to achieve defined objectives or targets
- IT skills – Microsoft Office up to intermediate level. Desirable: Commercial property experience and market product assessments
Qualifications
- Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent qualification/experience. Desirable: Property degree or relevant experience
- A recognised professional qualification in a property related discipline e.g. MRICS, CIOB, MICE or equivalent
