About The Role
We are recruiting Gas Supervisors to cover repairs across the Merseyside and Cheshire area, providing all‑day‑to‑day repairs and vacant property repairs to our customers. The suitable candidate will be matched to the closest regional patch in Merseyside where possible to reduce excessive travel, but covering Greater Manchester or Lancashire at times may be required. Start and finish your day from home with no need to attend our office daily – just for team meetings. You may also be required to participate in an emergency ‘out of hours’ service as required. A full UK driving licence is required.
Purpose of the Role
Our Gas Supervisors will provide support to the Gas Team Leader in the delivery and co‑ordination of Gas servicing, repairs and installations in line with all group standards and key performance indicators, ensuring high standards and observing all legal, statutory and regulatory requirements while undertaking gas checks and services along with repair activities within customers’ homes, voids and for other clients.
Key Responsibilities
Delivery
- Assess, coordinate and undertake the most cost‑effective Gas repair solution ensuring value for money
- Organise materials, provide detailed information and communicate effectively with customers, other stakeholders and colleagues to deliver a high‑quality service
- Maintain an adequate store of materials, including van‑based stock, and proactively organise workload and commitments to ensure efficient delivery
Customer Service
- Provide excellent customer service whilst ensuring prompt work of the required standard
Liaison and Technical Advice
- Liaise with clients, customers and colleagues regarding access, safe working practices and assessment of repairs requirements and progress of repairs
Quality and Records
- Ensure all work is delivered to a high standard and maintain records on PDA and other required systems
Health and Safety, Work Equipment and Line Management
- Undertake work activities in line with all health and safety requirements and assist the promotion of Health & Safety
- Operate light machinery, plant and powered hand tools in accordance with recognised safety procedures and maintain allocated vehicles
- Provide line management cover to the team, managing resources to ensure objectives are achieved in the absence of the Team Leader
Internal Partnership Working
- Ensure collaborative working to deliver required service levels across the region
Essential – Skills, Experience and Knowledge
- Experience of gas systems and working within a commercial and domestic property maintenance environment
- Experience of working in a customer environment
- Track record of completing Gas Servicing programmes
- Proven ability to deliver a quality customer‑centred repairs service
- Experience of working in a target‑driven environment
- Sound knowledge of health and safety regulations, ACOPS relevant to the post and associated tasks undertaken within it, in line with HASAWA 1974
Desirable – Supervisory and Social Housing Experience
- Supervisory experience and experience of working within a commercial and domestic property maintenance environment
- Experience of delivering services within the social housing sector
- Experience of using PDA technology (hand‑held/mobile working technology)
Essential – Qualifications
- Qualified to City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 (recognised Gas trade qualification)
- Qualified to work with Central heating, Water heaters, Cookers, Pipe work, unvented hot water, (formally ACOPS 1-14)
- Qualified Gas Safe Engineer (CCN1) – Install, Commission, Service, Safety Check Natural Gas and LPG and appropriate CSCS card
- A full UK driving licence is required
Desirable – Additional Qualifications and Training
- Hold relevant health & safety qualifications which relate to the sector
- Asbestos awareness training
- Relevant power tool, manual handling and appropriate training in COSHH & PPE
- Access equipment and working at height training (e.g. mobile work platforms)
