Ontic, a leading licensor and manufacturer of complex engineering parts for the global aerospace and defence industries, are now recruiting for a Mechanical Technician to join our team in Bishop's Cleeve, England.

The Role

As a Mechanical Technician, you’ll play a key role in assembling and testing a variety of mechanical products and sub‑assemblies that support the manufacture and delivery of high‑quality aerospace components. Working from engineering drawings and build manuals, you’ll ensure each product meets Ontic’s exacting standards for safety, precision, and reliability. You’ll thrive in a hands‑on environment, working collaboratively within the OE team to meet deadlines and production targets while maintaining a strong focus on quality and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Do

  • Assemble mechanical products and sub‑assemblies using the correct tools, documentation, and procedures.
  • Follow production schedules, processes, and standards within Ontic’s ERP/MRP systems.
  • Inspect and test assemblies, including environmental and final testing, in line with controlled test procedures.
  • Ensure finished products meet required quality standards before release.
  • Demonstrate safe working practices and contribute to maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient workspace.

About You

You’ll bring previous experience working in a mechanical manufacturing environment, ideally within aerospace or a similarly regulated sector. You’ll be confident reading and interpreting engineering drawings, work orders, and technical documentation, and have excellent dexterity and attention to detail for assembling small mechanical parts.

Essential Skills And Experience

  • Proven experience assembling and testing mechanical products.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and build instructions.
  • Computer literate with experience using manufacturing systems (ERP/MRP).
  • A team player with a focus on precision, safety, and quality.

Preferred

  • Mechanical or Electrical apprenticeship (or equivalent qualification).
  • Experience working within an aerospace Part 21G or CoC environment.
