The Role
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Master Production Scheduler (MPS) to take ownership of creating and maintaining a valid Master Production Schedule and Production Plan. This pivotal role balances supply and demand to ensure customer satisfaction, efficient manufacturing, and operational excellence. You’ll make complex, business-critical decisions that impact customer service, quality, and production outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, manage, and maintain the Master Production Schedule (MPS) based on demand requirements from sales orders, forecasts, and reorder points.
- Develop and issue weekly production schedules aligned with short-term capacity and material availability.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand capacity constraints, improve lead times, and exceed customer expectations.
- Maintain planning parameters including lead times, lot sizes, safety stock, delivery times, and order file data.
- Resolve conflicts related to material and capacity availability to ensure production continuity.
- Monitor performance against forecasts, calculate forecast errors, and communicate insights to drive demand accuracy improvements.
- Provide reliable feedback on customer delivery dates and material shortages.
- Liaise with Programme Managers and Supply Chain to monitor and recommend stock levels through SIOP processes.
- Produce reports on labour utilisation and develop capacity plans to support resource planning.
- Evaluate and recommend actions to ensure conformance to plan and production efficiency.
- Build a solid understanding of company products and processes to optimise scheduling and load balancing.
- Identify and implement process improvements across the Planning function, supporting goals in customer service, quality, cost reduction, and innovation.
- Lead and manage assigned team members, including performance reviews, attendance, and development.
- Allocate tasks and delegate responsibilities appropriately within the planning team.

Knowledge, Skills And Experience
- Degree (or equivalent experience) in a business discipline.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in production planning within a diverse, discrete manufacturing environment.
- Proven expertise in automated master production scheduling, capacity management, and shop floor systems (Visual ERP desirable).
- Proficient in MRP systems and Microsoft Office, with strong forecasting and scheduling knowledge for both make-to-stock and make-to-order operations.
- Excellent communication, planning, and organisational skills; able to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated problem-solving ability with sound commercial awareness.
- Embraces change, drives continuous improvement, and collaborates effectively across teams.
- Confident and credible, able to build strong relationships at all levels.
