Ontic, a leading licensor and manufacturer of complex engineering parts for the global aerospace and defence industries, is now recruiting for a Mechanical Technician to join our team in Bishops Cleeve. What you’ll be doing

As an integral part of the OE team, you will be responsible for the assembly and test of various mechanical products and sub-assemblies to support the manufacture of the final unit for delivery to our customers in accordance with engineering drawings and build manuals. You will be comfortable working towards deadlines and performance targets. You will have a passion for lean methodologies, continuous improvement, and furthering your own personal education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assembling various mechanical products and sub-assemblies using the correct tools, documentation, and procedures.
  • Compliance with production processes and procedures, production schedules, and recording standards using business IT systems (i.e. ERP/MRP).
  • Assembling and inspecting top level LRU’s using the correct tools, documentation, and procedures.
  • Carrying out testing of the assemblies including both environmental and final test requirements using and adhering to controlled test procedures.
  • Ensure finished products conform to quality standards to enable progression to inspection and release process.
  • Demonstrates personal behaviours that underpin and support a safe working environment.

Education/Qualifications:

Mechanical or Electrical apprenticeship an advantage and preferred.

Experience:

You will have previous experience of working in a manufacturing environment with mechanical products and special processes. You will have a good understanding of written instructions, schematic drawings, specifications, work orders, and engineering documentation. You will be able to demonstrate excellent dexterity due to the small mechanical parts needed in assembly and attention to detail, and in addition to being computer literate. Aerospace experience, working within a Part 21G or CofC environment an advantage and preferred.
