Ontic, a leading licensor and manufacturer of complex engineering parts for the global aerospace and defence industries, is recruiting for an AI Engineer to join our IT team. In this role, you will support us in developing and implementing AI, Generative AI, and Intelligent Automation solutions that improve business processes, enhance productivity, and drive innovation across Ontic. This position will be based at our Tewkesbury site, with approximately 20-30% travel to Ontic sites globally.
The Role:
Reporting to the Vice President, AI & Technology, you will work closely with stakeholders and technology teams across Ontic to identify opportunities where AI and automation can simplify processes, improve decision-making, and create measurable business value. You will design, develop, and implement enterprise AI solutions using technologies including Large Language Models, ChatGPT/OpenAI, Microsoft Copilot, Azure AI, Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), and UiPath. Additionally, you will develop AI assistants, copilots, and automated workflows, integrating AI into systems such as ERP, CRM, PLM, SharePoint, and Microsoft 365, while ensuring the solutions delivered are secure, scalable, and production-ready.
About you:

To be successful in this role, you should have 5+ years' experience in software engineering, automation, or AI development, along with proven experience delivering enterprise AI or Generative AI solutions and building production solutions using ChatGPT/OpenAI APIs. Strong technical experience across Python, OpenAI APIs, Prompt Engineering, Azure OpenAI Services, Microsoft Copilot Studio, UiPath, Power Automate, REST APIs, and RAG architectures is essential, alongside experience integrating technology into enterprise systems. You should also be a strong communicator who can translate complex AI concepts for non-technical audiences, work effectively with stakeholders, and bring a practical, problem-solving approach to emerging technology. Experience within aerospace, engineering, or manufacturing would be advantageous but is not essential.
