Ontic, a leading licensor and manufacturer of complex engineered parts for the global aerospace and defence industries, is seeking a Finance Manager to join our team at our new MRO site in Tewkesbury.
Ontic is a success story in the world of aerospace & defence. Founded around 50 years ago, Ontic was spun out of BBA into the ownership of CVC in 2019 and has since thrived as a stand-alone business. Ontic has a unique business model – we licence complex components that other companies no longer wish to make and guarantee their supply through the long remaining life of the aircraft fleets we serve. We operate across many, even most, military and civil platforms with over 6,000 different parts.
Job Purpose: The purpose of the Finance Manager is to own, manage and ensure the integrity of the balance sheet for the Tewkesbury site. This role plays a critical part in leading month-end processes, maintaining robust financial controls, and delivering high-quality financial reporting and analysis to support decision-making across the business.
Main Responsibilities:
- Leading month-end processing, reporting into group consolidation and business reporting.
- Owning all balance sheet reconciliations for Tewkesbury.
- Presenting monthly variance analysis to the Head of Finance.
- Monthly reconciliation of intercompany accounts.
- Preparing monthly and quarterly VAT returns.
- Presenting quarterly balance sheet reviews to Group Finance.
- Working closely with the transactional team to support key projects.
- Ensuring financial controls are established, maintained, reviewed and fit for purpose.
- Assisting with external and internal site audits.
- Leading a project of balance sheet reconciliation improvement.
- Ensuring compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements.
- Interrogating data and producing meaningful analysis to drive action within the business.
- Supporting the Finance Intern and Finance Graduate to ensure their development at Ontic is meaningful and effective.
- Providing ad hoc support to the Singapore Finance Manager.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
Essential:
- Proven experience in a similar role.
- Qualified or Part Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Strong Excel skills.
- Logical thinking and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to plan and prioritise workload to meet deadlines.
- Ability to communicate confidently at all levels.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate and resolve queries efficiently.
- Comfortable operating in an environment of change and continuous improvement.
Desirable:
- Evidence of personal growth and development.
- Experience with Power Query and SQL.
- Syteline experience.
- Experience within a manufacturing environment.
