Ontic, a leading licensor and manufacturer of complex engineering parts for the global aerospace and defence industries, are now recruiting for a Material Planner to join the Manufacturing Planning team. This role will be based at our Staverton site before eventually moving to Tewkesbury.

Role Summary:

You will be responsible for the delivery of material throughout the production cell, and you will be the focal point for the execution of all production schedules ensuring material supply is aligned to meet due dates. You will need to have good communication skills, able to work with key stakeholders; Operations, Supply Chain, Planning and Warehousing to ensure the supply of material is aligned and you’re able to work with multiple priorities ensuring we strive to meet key deadlines for our customers. In this role you will need to be dynamic and work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ownership of the delivery of production plans, proactively reviewing material availability and working with multiple stakeholders to ensure material is available, confirming and the build plans are being delivered against.
  • Ensuring the flow of material is aligned to production schedules need by dates by liaising with; Goods Inwards, Supply Chain and Stores.
  • Accountable owner for all material processes.
  • Utilising system parameters to help support yield/attrition.
  • Able to articulate deviations to the build plan to relevant stakeholders through customer impact by hours or revenue and ensure you have been proactive at looking for solutions prior to escalation.
  • Facilitate engineering change requests and manage non-conformance items through relevant risk release processes.
  • Ensuring traceability is followed and accounted for throughout the material allocation process.
  • Responsible for the conformance to the plan throughout the shop and jobs are kitted and completed on time by working all constraints and facilitating discussions with relevant stakeholders.
  • Proactively resolving linestop queries by escalating through the business where support is needed to ensure a continuity of supply.
  • Gain a strong understanding of the MRR process ensuring process is followed, transactions align to relevant lot/serial numbers and the flow of parts from MRB to production are in a timely manner.
  • Be forthcoming with process improvements within the department ensuring you’re always working as efficiently as possible.
  • Able to hold relevant stakeholders accountable ensuring open actions are closed in line with production schedule requirements.
  • Able to communicate effectively and feedback to master schedulers on concerns or linestops regarding open jobs where the need by date will not be met.
  • Able to support stores if required with kitting job cards with shortages.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Have demonstrated a minimum of 3 years working within a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience has come from a master scheduling / material planner role.
  • Desired, but not necessary to have minimum 3 years of using ERP/MRP systems.
  • Understand forecasting, production plans, scheduling, capacity planning, material requirements planning and relationship management.
  • Able to communicate effectively, internally and externally at all levels.
  • Have a can-do attitude with a view of unlocking concerns whilst working together to ensure we meet our customer plans.
  • A self-starter who can work independently where necessary but can be dynamic enough to work in a team.
  • Proactive to ensure you’re always thinking ahead; resolving issues before a linestop occurs.
  • You’re able to manage conflicting priorities and workload independently.
