Ontic, a leading licensor and manufacturer of complex engineering parts for the global aerospace and defence industries, is recruiting for a Production Manager to join our growing operations team based at our Staverton site.

The Role:
As Production Manager, you will lead day-to-day manufacturing and assembly operations, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient delivery across your production areas. Reporting to the Head of Operations, you will be accountable for performance, conformance to plan, and the leadership and development of your production teams. You will drive operational performance through clear KPIs, support capacity planning and new product introduction, and champion continuous improvement on the shop floor.
While aerospace experience is desirable, we are primarily looking for a proven production leader with strong experience in manufacturing or complex assembly environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide clear leadership and direction across our production environment, working closely with our Cell Managers.
- Work with the Head of Operations to support the translation of strategic objectives into effective operational initiatives.
- Own production performance, capacity planning, and conformance to plan within your area.
- Act as an escalation point for technical, operational, and people-related matters.
- Coach and develop Cell Leaders to strengthen future line management capability and engagement.
- Ensure full compliance with regulatory, quality, health & safety, and people processes.
- Champion continuous improvement activities including Lean, Kaizen, and employee involvement.
- Support new product introductions, ensuring readiness across people, processes, and facilities.
- Monitor, maintain, and improve KPIs in line with operational and business goals.
- Build strong relationships with cross-functional teams to enable effective delivery.
About You:
You will be an experienced Production Manager, or a proven Cell Manager ready to take the next step in your leadership career, with a strong background in manufacturing and/or repair environments, ideally within a regulated or aerospace setting. You will be confident leading people, solving complex problems, and driving performance through both structure and collaboration.
Key skills and experience include:
- Experience in managing day-to-day production environments.
- Knowledge or working awareness of CAA Part 21 and Part 145 regulations (or the ability to quickly learn).
- Proven people management and leadership capability.
- Experience working with MRP/ERP systems (Visual ERP experience advantageous).
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to address product and process issues.
- A proactive, self-motivated approach with excellent communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles (highly desirable).
- A commitment to continuous personal development and operational excellence.
