Ontario Teachers Pension Plan (OTPP) is one of Canada’s largest institutional investors. Established in 1990, OTPP manages more than C$260 B in capital on behalf of ~340K teachers across Ontario. Around 80% of OTPP’s AUM is managed directly by over 400 investment professionals in Toronto, San Francisco, London, Singapore and Mumbai.

Teachers Venture Growth (TVG) is OTPP’s investment department focused on late‑stage venture and growth equity in the tech ecosystem. Since 2019 TVG has grown its global portfolio to C$10 B, investing in leading AI, cyber, fintech and software companies such as Quantexa, DeepL, Alan, ComplyAdvantage, Lendable and Taxfix. TVG’s strategy combines direct and fund investments, and it operates with a global team of more than 30 professionals. TVG typically leads financing rounds and takes an active role in supporting portfolio companies through board seats and value‑added services.

The Opportunity

TVG is looking for an Associate to join the EMEA team based in London. As a key member of the team you will contribute to the development and implementation of TVG’s ambitious European direct investment strategy while gaining exposure to global deal flow.

What you’ll do:

  • Support origination, due diligence and execution of investment opportunities across a wide range of tech sectors within EMEA
  • Perform financial modelling and analysis, including projections, economics, sensitivity analysis, valuations and returns
  • Support investment recommendations based on the team’s due diligence findings and analysis
  • Prepare and present investment recommendations and memos to internal committees
  • Evaluate and monitor the ongoing performance of portfolio company investments
  • Proactively add value and build relationships with portfolio companies
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships within the venture capital ecosystem, including start‑ups, venture funds, corporate partners and other key stakeholders
  • Work cross‑functionally and collaboratively with other TVG teams across North America and Asia to ensure alignment with OTPP’s mission, vision and values

What you’ll bring:

  • Strong academic credentials (bachelor’s degree or equivalent)
  • 2–3 years of relevant industry experience, preferably in investment banking, venture capital, private equity or growth equity
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to perform in‑depth analysis
  • Exceptionally curious and driven, able to balance competing priorities in a high‑performance team environment
  • Keen interest in disruptive and innovative technology trends; experience investing in growth companies is an asset
  • Strong work ethic, team mindset, communication and presentation skills
  • Team player with strong interpersonal and relationship‑building skills, able to build effective partnerships internally and externally
  • A risk‑taker comfortable with ambiguity yet able to balance risk with strategic and operational judgment
  • Demonstrated ability to think independently
  • High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency in English; other European languages are highly preferred
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required
